The 1970s and 1980s was a period when many in-fill houses and developments were built in older areas of Ottawa. These often narrow houses are characterized by vaulted ceilings, two-storey spaces, sunken rooms/changes in levels, skylights, loft/studio spaces and open concept layouts. Here is a sampling of some of these innovative designs scattered throughout the city:
