MacDonald Homes in the 1960s

Manordale Part 2 - The Later Years

My previous post was on the early years of the Manordale neighbourhood:  Manordale Part 1 This post will focus on the later years, from the late 1960s to the 1980s. Most of the early development happened south of Knoxdale Road, with later phases on the north side. MacDonald Homes: In the late 1960s and early 1970s the area northwest of Knoxdale Road and Conover Street was built by MacDonald Homes and sometimes referred to as "Woodvale". Knox Farm: Located south of Knoxdale is a small pocket neighbourhood built around the Knox farmhouse. Newspaper articles reveal that the area was supposed to be built with single-family condo groups by Macval, but the zoning did not allow it. Macval did end up building houses in the area, but they are freehold and similar to the prevailing houses in the area. I do not have the floor plans for these homes.
